Our Story

A hospital that was never meant to make money

Shree Prannath Arogya Trust was formed in 1993. The hospital on Ved Road is the largest of the twelve institutions it runs, and it has been operated on a no profit, no loss basis from the day it opened.

That phrase does real work here. It is the reason a general OPD consultation includes the medicine for that day, the reason the same rate applies to every patient in a given category, and the reason dialysis is free for patients eligible under the Gujarat government's Mukhyamantri Amrutum scheme. None of those are promotions. They are how the trust decided the hospital would be run.

The building holds 26 departments across seven floors and about 60,000 square feet, with four modular operation theatres. Emergency and intensive care run 24 hours. It sits two kilometres from both the railway and bus stations, which matters more than it sounds for families travelling in from outside Surat.

Leadership

Who runs this hospital

The hospital is one part of a trust that has worked in Surat for more than thirty years. These two decisions, made a generation apart, are why treatment here costs what it does.

Founder

Swami Shree Tartam Jyotiji Maharaj

A health care institute that would serve mankind without any discrimination of caste, religion or economic status.

He established Shree Prannath Arogya Trust in 1993, and the hospital on Ved Road grew out of it. The school of nursing on the same campus carries his name.

Swami Shree Laxman Jyotiji Maharaj

Two decades of affordable healthcare in a patient friendly environment, with a strong belief in ethical and transparent medical practice.

He chairs the trust and everything it runs, from the hospital and the school of nursing to the athithi bhavans. What the hospital charges, the outpatient consultation and the no profit, no loss policy are trust decisions rather than hospital ones.
